`6 cr sanctioned for rural areas

Central government on Thursday sanctioned Rs.6.19 core to Nagaland for areas that are not included in Part IX and IX A of the Constitution during the period 2018-19. As per documents made available, Finance ministry’s Finance Commission Division (FCD) has directed the chief controller of accounts to advise the Reserve Bank of India, Nagpur to credit the amount in to the account of the state government immediately.

FCD further stated that the state government (Finance department) needed to transfer the amount to the concerned bodies/councils (ADCs) within 15 days of the receipt from the Centre.

Any delay in transferring of fund will require the state government to release the same with interest at bank rate of RBI, it added. FCD also advised the state government to ensure that grants were distributed as per 2011 population census, “with a weight of 90% and area with a weight of 10%.” The state Planning department has been asked to ensure that utilization of fund and monitoring of implementation of works/schemes are as per guidelines.
