‘Angel Home’ for differently abled inaugurated in Dmu

A rehabilitation centre, “Angel Home” day care for differently abled people, situated at Signal Angami village was inaugurated on October 9. 

The centre is run by the Franciscan Sisters of St. Mary of Angels (FSMA). 

A press release from secretary to Kohima Diocese stated that, Rev. Sr. Cyrilla FSMA, the superior general of the congregation inaugurated the building by cutting the ribbon and lighting the lamp along with Sr. Samina, the provincial superior and Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil. 

Bishop also blessed the new house and celebrated the Holy Eucharist, which was followed by a short felicitation programme. Bishop in his homily said that the “Angel Home” will manifest to the people in the periphery, the least and lost, and to the society at large and the differently abled to discover and perfect hidden abilities in them. 

Presently the home will function only as day care centre but gradually extend to residential and full time care. Those interested can contact Sr. Riya. 

Others present were Rev. Sr. Joanna, the vice general superior and councillors, Rev. Sr. Samina, the provincial superior with her councillors, FSMA sisters working in Nagaland and Assam, sisters and fathers from in and around Dimpur and the village representatives and invitees. 

Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of St. Mary of Angels, who collaborate in the mission of the Church in three parishes in Nagaland namely Kidima, Khusam and Atoizu build and run the centre in Dimapur. 

The programme was anchored by Rev. Sr. Tejhonu.
