‘Girl Child Week’ observed in Longleng

Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) along with DTF BBBP observed “Girl Child Week” on the theme, “Empowering girls for a brighter tomorrow” at Government Middle School (GMS), block Longleng on June 13. 

According to DIPR report, GMS, block headmaster K. Phaulem appreciated the DTF, BBBP and MSK Longleng for organizing the programme for the first time exclusively for girl students in their school. He encouraged the girl students to be confident and stand for their rights. 

Tutinungla Phom, district coordinator, gave a brief introduction on the “girl child week”, while Phungla Phom, WWO MSK Longleng facilitated the outstanding girls students with certificates and gift hampers. She also stressed on the importance of girl child rights and encouraged them to fight against all odds. Importance on girl child issues and needs were also discussed. Information on Sakhi-One Stop Centre, Longleng was highlighted by Henchem Phom, centre administrator. Gift hamper were given to all the girls students who attended the programme.

A special session was also conducted where the girl students were given opportunities to explore their talents by presenting original songs, quotation, poem, speech etc. High school girl students, teachers and the OSC team Longleng attended the programme.
