‘Holiday Bible School’ concludes at SBCK

The Sunday School department of the Sumi Baptist Church Kohima (SBCK) organized a five-day long Holiday Bible School (HBS) which concluded Sunday last under the theme “God’s Promises” – 2nd Corinthians 1:20 at the church premise and the campus of the church-sponsored Mount Olive College. 
The HBS was held with Holito Arkha, associate pastor (Children), SBCK, as the event director. The annual HBS was organized by the SBCK with a focus on a holistic approach to education, spiritual development, missions, and worship and with a view to engage the children in various programmes and activities to inculcate spiritual, moral, and social values.
During the five-day long programme, the director and her team of five co-directors stressed on the necessity of the church to equip the children with life skills activities. Focus group programme to provide recreation for children according to their interest were conducted and altogether five focus groups under the head Art – drawing & painting, craft, creative writing, dance and music were initiated for the students. Each group further segmented into smaller groups for effective results rendering an active involvement and articulation of thoughts.
A time period of 6 hours was allotted each day for different activities that included teachers’ fellowship. One of the major attractions was the worship assemblies where the students learned new songs based on the theme. The final day was marked by a thanksgiving programme with students presenting different art they had learnt from the event such as music, dance, art works, spoken words, speech, story narration, experience sharing, art and craft display. The event concluded with the “Love Feast” prepared by the members of the church and provided to all.
A total of over 800 students, 50 teachers, 30 focus group mentors, and about 35 volunteers attended the event.
