‘Largest Traditional Konyak Dance’, which was staged by 4687 Konyak womenfolk in Mon on April 5, 2019, has entered the Guinness Book of World Records.

Konyak Union informed that it received approval for the setting of the record on April 9, 2019, at 9pm from the Guinness Book of World Records, which read “The largest Traditional Konyak Dance consists of 4687 participants and was achieved by the Konyak Union (India) in Mon Nagaland, India on April 5, 2019”. In this regard, the KU has expressed its appreciation and thanked all the participants, organisers and well-wishes for their contributions and support “in accomplishing this great achievement.”

It may be mentioned that in an attempt to set the record, the Konyak womenfolk clad in traditional attire had danced to a folksong during the third day of the three-day long Aoleang cum Mini Hornbill Festival in Mon town on April 5, 2019.
