Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal Monday said that society should be build based on Spirituality.

Speaking at the inauguration of Majuli Raas Festival, Sonowal said, “We must build a society based on spirituality and moral values and we should try and lead a life guided by the ideals of Lord Krishna.”  “Majuli is a divine place and whoever comes to the river island during the Raas Festival receives blessings from Lord Krishna,” Sonowal added.

With an aim to promote Raas Festival of Majuli, the Assam tourism department from 2019 onwards has decided to celebrate the festival in a grand way. Calling the people of Majuli to show an example of generous hospitality to the visiting tourists, Chief Minister Sonowal said, “Indian culture is based on the motto of Atithi Devo Bhava.”

“Majuli’s natural beauty, legacy, cultural heritage and history must be preserved and in this regard, you all have an important role to play in this regard,” Sonowal said.
