A press release by PIB (Defence) stated that ‘Project Akanksha’ is aimed at reaching   out to the maximum local youth, especially girls and women residing in the remote areas of Churachandpur district. As such, various awareness and registration camps outreach programmes and empowerment campaigns were conducted by Khuga Career Counseling Cell through Mobile Interactive Terminal for Rural Areas (MITRA) Vehicle since April this year.

The release stated ‘Project Akanksha’ provided a common platform to the women aspirants amongst local youth for online registration of candidates for Soldier General Duty (Women Military Police) recruitment rally scheduled at Shillong in the month of September 2019. The online registration of 178 women aspirants was carried out based on their educational merit and qualifications. These candidates affiliated with Khuga Career Counseling Cell would now be provided with free coaching for the forthcoming Army Recruitment Rally.
