‘World Consumer Rights Day’ launched by NVCO

Week-long celebration of World Consumer Rights Day (WCRD) was officially launched by Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organisation (NVCO) on March 9. 

A press release from NVCO media cell stated that, NVCO officially launched the week-long celebration of WCRD, under the theme “The sustainable consumer”. 
President, NVCO, Kezhokhoto Savi, stated that World Consumer Rights Day celebrated every year, is a means of raising global awareness about consumer rights and needs. Stating that celebrating the day was a chance to demand that rights of all consumers were respected and protected, Savi said it was also to protect against market abuses and social injustices which undermine those rights. 
NVCO further appealed voluntary consumer organisations (VCO), civil societies, churches, communities and institutions to observe the day in a benefitting manner.
NVCO would observe the week-long celebration by conducting consumer awareness campaign related to price rise, food safety, illegal collection of cash on highways, RTI, public services delivery system, back door appointment, corruption, food security, right of street vendors, etc.
