‘World Pharmacist Day’ observed in Tsg, Kohima

“World Pharmacist Day” (WPD) was observed in Tuensang and Kohima under the theme “transforming global health” on September 25 with an aim to encourage activities that promote and advocate for the role of the pharmacist in improving health of people.

Tuensang: Pharmacist Union Tuensang District (PUTD) celebrated WPD at CMO office Tuensang.

According to a press release, the house discussed the role of pharmacists in the healthcare system and importance of interactions between pharmacists with doctors and nurses. 

The house also discussed and agreed that all retail pharmacies should keep a full time registered pharmacist and the members decided to approach the higher authority to allot pharmacist sick room in every health centre.

Further, it resolved on organising awareness programme on self-medication in the district and clear confusion between pharmacists and the pharmacy. 

Earlier, short speech was delivered by ZLO Tuensang, Dr. Alemwapang, exhortation by Amos, store keeper, DH while pharmacist, Khudei SC Lanu pronounced invocation and drug inspector, CMO Tuesang, Tsunungrenla Jamir chaired the programme. 

Kohima: Members of Kohima District Pharmacists Union (KDPU) celebrated WPD at Kohima.

A press release from general secretary, KDPU, Zayiechituo John Kipu stated that while speaking on the occasion, district pharmacy officer (Retd) and advisor KDPU, Santu Thapa said the theme was pertinent in the wake of COVID-19 where the responsibilities of pharmacist had increased manifold.

He thanked the state government for its effort to containing the COVID-19 and acknowledged the services provided by pharmacists in the health care team of the state machinery at various level and services of the community pharmacists to the people of the state. Earlier, the programme was chaired by Zayiechituo John Kipu, invocation by Thongsheni and vote of thanks by vice-president KDPU, Ato.
