‘World Pulses Day’ observed at Medziphema

“World Pulses Day” was celebrated by sub-divisional agriculture office (SDAO), Medziphema as field day at Medziphema village on February 10, with Rosemary Ezung, SDAO, Medziphema as the resource person. 

A press release from SDAO office Medziphema stated that, resource person highlighted on the importance of the day, with the main objectives to recognize the contribution of pulses to a sustainable food production and towards food security and nutrition. 

She also emphasised on the importance of the pulses as ideal source of proteins that can be incorporated in daily diet, at the same time pulses were naturally nitrogen fixing crops that greatly improves the soil fertility.  She encouraged the farmers to take up growing pulses as income generating activity. Jaksungnaro, AO chaired the programme and Kelevino Chusi, AFA pronounced vote of thanks.
