The weeklong 10th edition of Silver Cup T20 Cricket Tournament organised by Nepali Baptist Church Kohima Youth Department under the theme “Peace and Unity Through Cricket” got underway at Jakhama local ground on Saturday. 

Playing the inaugural match, defending champions Esa Warriors defeated Kohima Veterans by a huge margin of 160 runs.
Let to bat first after losing the toss, ESA Warriors scored 216 losing 6 wickets. Dibash scored 43 off 20 balls while Roshan scored 101 off 48.
Kohima Veterans B Humchamo and Lanu took two wickets each.
In reply, Kohima veterans were all out scoring just 56 runs. Ritu of ESA Warrior took 3 wickets giving three run in two over while Hanilung took two wicket giving away 14 runs in 4 over.
Roshan of Esa Warriors was adjudged the man of the match for his 101 runs.
Earlier, Wing Commander Rajeev Dong, Director of Rajya Sainik Board, Nagaland graced the inaugural function chief guest. In his address, Wing Commander said with the coming of T20 match, cricket has become a popular game world wide.  He called upon the local players to take up the game seriously and work hard to move into higher level of tournaments.
He also lauded the organisers for providing a platform to the cricket players.
Altogether, 12 teams from Nagaland and Assam are competing in the tournament, which will conclude on November 23. 
The champions and runners up of the tournament will receive cash award of Rs 80,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively with trophies and citations. Losing semi-finalist will get Rs 5,000 each.

1st match: 8:00 am
NBC YD vs Silver Backs 
2nd match: 12:00 noon
St Joseph’s College vs Diphu XI
