12 year old releases her second book ‘Suki’s Spacecraft’

Twelve year old Sochumlo Suki Ezung released her second children’s book titled ‘Suki’s Spacecraft’, published by Kohima-based PenThrill Publication House, in Kohima on Monday.

Chief secretary Temjen Toy, officially released the book and a dedicatory prayer was offered by Kedo Peseyie, pastor of City Church Kohima. The young author from Nagaland had earlier published her first book titled, ‘Suki’s Magic Box’ two years ago.

Toy, in his short address said he was excited to be a part of the launching as such events celebrate the talents the State has. He further added that it was encouraging that someone young like Suki, and others, have been breaking barriers in different fields and giving hope for the future of Nagaland.

The young author speaking about the book said her inspiration for the book was her classroom and the characters were inspired by real people. In acknowledgement of her school (G. Rio Higher Secondary School) for being the inspiration, she dedicated her second book to the school where she is studying in class 7. She hoped the book will inspire and ignite the imagination of young people in Nagaland.

Lanu Vihienuo, headmistress of Dayspring Pre-School, Kohima in her review of the book said the book was simple but had a relevant message. She added that the imagination of the author was clearly visible in the story book and that the story can be easily related with.

Vishü Rita Krocha, publisher, PenThrill Publication House, in her address said Suki has raised the standard of writing for all aspiring writers and her age and also given rise to a new generation of writers.

Speaking about the book, Rita said it talks about the courage of six young girls who fight their way through hurdles and do not mind sacrificing what they value the most in order to save their school from being completely destroyed.

“Many of us may just brush aside children’s books or books written by child authors, but there is so much we can take away from them. I know for sure that this book will serve as an inspiration for many readers out there” said Rita.
