120kgs of banned plastic seized in Dimapur

Around 120 kgs of banned single use plastic was seized  from New Market area in Dimapur on November 14, during surprise checking conducted by Dimapur Task Force (DTF) on banned single use plastic.

According to DIPR, the same exercise was also carried out in Kohima town. 

In Dimapur, the checking was conducted along the entire stretch of Nyamo Lotha Road and New Market.

The team was led by EAC Sadar Dimapur along with representative of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), Dimapur police and GBs.

DTF warned shopkeepers not to stock or use banned plastic items and informed that surprise checking would be conducted from time to time. 

In Kohima, Kohima District Task Force (DTF) on total ban of single-use plastic conducted its second checking and confiscation exercise covering the whole of Kohima town. 

DTF comprising of members from the district administration and other departments and NGOs conducted the checking exercise with the objective of enforcing the total ban imposed on all single use plastic products and also to restrict all shops within the Kohima jurisdiction. 

The erring shopkeepers were fined and warned that their trade licenses would be cancelled if found violating the ban order again. 

The banned products were all confiscated by the teams for disposal.
