135 runners in fray for Hornbill Half Marathon

A total of 135 runners have registered so far for the 8th Hornbill Half Marathon to be held on December 2. The event is being organised by 3E Nagaland in collaboration with Tourism Department, Government of Nagaland as part of Hornbill Festival 2018.

Three runners from Ethiopia including the 26-year-old Mikiyas Yemata, the winner of Bengaluru Marathon have arrived at Kohima, Kethosituo Elvis Mepfhüo, managing director, 3E Nagaland informed Saturday evening.

The half marathon will cover the international standard distance of 21.0975 km for both men and women categories. The winner will receive a cash of Rs 50,000 while the second, third and fourth place will receive Rs.20,000, Rs.10,000 and Rs.5000 respectively for both men and women category. Apart from the winners, all finishers will also receive completion certificates. The event will be officiated and certified by the Nagaland Athletics Officials Club (NAOC).

The organising committee has informed the public that strict traffic regulations will be enforced during the race along the New-secretariat road – High School Junction – High Court Junction Meriema – Tsiesema and back to New Secretariat via High Court Junction Meriema.
