173 Bn CRPF organises volleyball tourney

173 Bn CRPF under the under the aegis of IGP Manipur and Nagaland sector conducted a “Friendship through Sports” Volleyball Tournament under Civic Action Programme on October 16 and 17 at Battalion Headquarters, Airfield, Dimapur. Altogether, 8 teams from adjoining local youth organisations participated in the tournament. 

Tenyiphe Youth Organisation emerged as the champions after defeating Diphupar Sporting Club. All the participating teams were given certificates, trophies and various sport items at the closing ceremony. 

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Sh. Vishnu Guatam, Commandant-173 Bn. CRPF, thanked all the teams for their cooperation in the successful conduct of the tournament. He also impressed upon the teams that Civic Action Programme conducted by CRPF was a yearly event covering various other activities too.  

The commandant also spoke on the glorious history of CRPF, which has completed its glorious 80th years since its inception as a “Crown Representative’s Police on 27th July, 1939. He highlighted on the mission of CRPF which is to enable the government to maintain rule of law, public order and internal security effectively and efficiently, to preserve national integrity and promote social harmony and development by upholding supremacy of the Constitution. “We shall continue our endeavour to fulfill the need of the local people in the coming days,” he added.
