In a remarkable feat, two Nagaland football referees - Kezevituo Vizo and Mechievilie Yashii - have qualified for RIN (Referee Identification Number) category 5. The duo are the first batch of referees from Nagaland to get RIN number which is approved by All India Football Federation (AIFF).

It may be mentioned here that referees between 18 years and 35 years of age are allotted to apply for RIN through their state association with AIFF to officiate matches in their own state or outside. The duo completed RIN test successfully with the help of Joy Chandra, AIFF Referee Instructor from Itanagar.
The AIFF conducts referee development courses based on a 5 tier system. Category 5 is the entry level and Category 1 being the top tier. CAT 5 Referees are responsible for officiating state-level competitions and it come under the direct supervision of state associations.
AIFF’s Referee development programmes are designed to produce qualified Indian referees at all levels for domestic and international competitions, and promote refereeing as a career.
