23 new COVID cases in Manipur

With 23 more returnees tested positive in the last 24 hours, the COVID-19 infections tally in Manipur rose to 921 with 663 active cases.

Officials of the state health department said that eight more patients were discharged today after recovery from the pandemic today, taking the total number of persons cured so far in the state to 258.

The recovery rate in the state is 28.01 percent, it added. In the last 24 hours, 23 persons- five males and 18 females were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases from the VRDLS at RIMS (7) and JNIMS (16), said an official source at the COVID-19 Common Control Room of the state health department.

All were returnees from other states staying at different quarantine centres across the districts of the state. Among them two were from Chandel, one from Churachandpur, six from Imphal West, one from Kakching, two from Kangpokpi and 11 from Senapati districts, the source said.

They were being shifted to the Covid care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing were in place, the source said.

The fresh cases were detected during 2,543 samples tested at the two VRDLs during the last 24 hours. A total of 1070 samples were tested at RIMS and 1473 at JNIMS.

With these samples, the cumulative test results received till today stood at 40,829, the source added.
