250 girl child of Longleng district given free note books

Longleng district celebrated a weeklong national girl child day from January 20 to 26, to spread maximum awareness and sensitize the message of Beti Bachao Beti Padho (BBBP) to the general populace along with free distribution of note books to girl child.

According to DIPR report, deputy commissioner, Longleng M. Shayung Phom in his short speech encouraged and advised the girl child to utilize the note books with an aim to compete with boys in their studies. 
He added that meritorious girl child in any field will also be acknowledged and sponsored scholarship in their future career. 
Five note books each with Beti Bachao Beti Padho (BBBP) logo was distributed to at least 250 girl child which was given away by the DC and the EACs in their respective blocks. 
Highlights of the weeklong celebration included opening ceremony, signature campaign, oath taking ceremony, mini marathon race for men with a theme “run for daughter” wall painting, postal campaign, putting up of billboards and hoardings, community meeting, sensitization program with church and students’ leaders, games and sports, literacy day, celebration of birth of girl child besides other activities.
Brand ambassador of Beti Bachao Beti Padho (BBBP), local champion, church leaders & elders, Phomla Hoichem (the apex women organization of Phom) and students’ leaders attended the programme.
