344.193 kgs of suspected brown sugar seized in Mnp

Manipur police registered yet another breakthrough in its war on drug by busting an illegal laboratory manufacturing brown sugar and seizing around 344.193 kg of suspected brown sugar.
A team of Narcotic and Affairs of Border (NAB) of Manipur police busted the factory found running at a hill range situated on the east of Phaijang village under Saikul police station of Kangpokpi district, on Wednesday night. No arrest was made during the operation as suspected persons engaged in the illegal act had fled when the NAB team reached the site. Those operating the factory ran away taking advantage of the hilly remote location and the poor visibility of the night, NAB SP W Basu said. 
Addressing a press conference, the SP stated that the operation busting the illegal drug factory was conducted by a team of NAB police led by additional SP Saklemba Rk based on reliable information.
He revealed that around 344.193 kgs of suspected brown sugar (remnants of processed opium), 500 litres of suspected liquid opium(morphinated solution), 38 kgs lime, five bottles of one kg each of ammonium chloride, two iron pressing machines, gas frame with cylinder, hand gloves, one weighing scale and other incriminating articles were recovered during the raid at the manufacturing unit.  Intensive search of the hill and the nearby village was conducted to apprehend the  suspected persons but no arrest could be made, the SP said.An FIR has been registered  and investigation is under way, he added.
