3E Nagaland announces Kohima Hornbill Gala

3E Nagaland has announced a series of activities for the upcoming Hornbill Festival dubbed as ‘Kohima Hornbill Gala 2019’ to be held from December 1 to 10 at Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima. 

Activities includes Naga style wrestling for junior and senior category, X-1 fight night Kohima, hornbill half marathon, musical evening. The 10-day event will have ethnic food stalls, merchandise stalls, ferris wheel & other fun rides, bouncy castle, movie night, etc. 

Naga wrestling: Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) has announced that Naga style wrestling for junior (Under -17) and veteran category (above 40 years) will be held on December 5. The registration will begin from November 1 and the last date has been fixed on November 30. The entry fee for junior is Rs.200 while for veteran it has been fixed at Rs. 500.

The champion in the junior category will receive Rs. 20, 000. The runners-up, third and fourth will pocket Rs 15,000, Rs.10,000 and Rs. 5000 respectively. In the veteran category, the champions will receive Rs 50,000 while the second, third and fourth will get Rs 25,000, Rs.15,000 and Rs.10,000 respectively.

X-1 fight night Kohima: The X1 Fight Night Kohima, a mixed martial arts event will be organised under the aegis of Mixed Martial Arts Association of Nagaland (MMAAN) and MMA India on December 6 and 7.

Co-founder of X1 International, Khriemelie Metha said the two day event will feature 16 fight cards, eight bout each for a night including a professional bout as the main event.

Hornbill half marathon: The 9th Hornbill half marathon under the aegis of Nagaland Athletics Association will be held on December 8. The distance of the half marathon will be 21.0975 km for men and women. The winner of both the categories will receive a cash prize of Rs. 50,000. Cash prize will also be awarded till 4th position.

The Nagaland Athletics Association has also introduced ‘Great Hornbill Run’ for boys and girls of class eight and below covering a distance of 9.1 kilometers. The winners of both categories will receive Rs. 10,000 and cash award till 4th position.

This edition, the NWA also has included one “Special Lap’ for persons with special needs under the theme “Hornbill for All” where gift hampers will be given to all the participants. The registration will begin on November 1 and last date of registration is November 30.
