58th Zhadima annual sports meet underway

The Zhadima Village Youth and Sports Organization (ZVYSO) 58th annual sports meet 2020 began on Thursday at the Sports Complex, Zhadima village. The inaugural ceremony was graced by PS to Chief Minister, Government of Nagaland, Neiketouzo Kengurüse as the chief guest.

The three day annual sports meet kicked off with the unfurling of the flag by the chief guest which was followed by a spectacular march-past by the eight Khels, led by Vilavor Loucü as the parade commander.

The first day of the three day event witnessed Naga wrestling participated by 35 wrestlers from 12 teams. Vice president NASA ‘C’, Visielie Sanchu graced the wrestling final ceremony as the patron. Addressing the community, Sanchu recounted the purity of the grappling sport and encouraged the players to maintain discipline and deliver the best spirit of sportsmanship with utmost sincerity.

Meanwhile, 21 year old Kevimezo Loucü clinched the first position in wrestling, winning a cash prize of Rs 20,000; Vilavor Loucü secured the second position winning a cash of Rs. 10,000; Kevizalhou Khoubve and Lezovotuo  Miario secured the third and fourth positions winning a cash of Rs. 7,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively along with medals and citations.

12 teams from eight Khels will be competing in football and volleyball in both men and women category during the next two days of the annual sports meet.
