61 new COVID cases reported in 3 NE states

Sixty one new COVID-19 cases were reported in three Northeastern states of Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura on Monday. 
In Meghalaya, another COVID-19 related death in West Garo Hills district took the number of fatalities due to the viral infection to 101, while 41 fresh cases took the active case count to 933, even as 78 more recoveries took the number of recovered persons to 9,672.
Director of Health Service (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the new COVID-19 cases detected included 17 in East Khasi Hills district, 14 in West Garo Hills district, six in Ri-Bhoi district, three in South West Garo Hills district and one in North Garo Hills district.
East Khasi Hills, including Shillong with 291 active cases and Ri-Bhoi with 281 active cases are the two most COVID-hit districts in the State.
Meanwhile, 24 more recoveries from the viral infection were recorded in East Khasi Hills district, 17 in Ri-Bhoi district, 13 in West Garo Hills district, nine each in East Jaintia Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district, four in East Garo Hills district and two in South West Garo Hills district. Meghalaya has so far registered 10706 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 933 active cases, 101 deceased with case fatality rate at 0.94 and 9672  recoveries from the viraldisease. Mizoram reported three new COVID-19 cases, pushing the state’s tally to 3,396, a senior official said. Two cases were recorded in Saitual and one in Mamit.
According to PTI, one of the new three patients is a jawan of the Indian Army, the official said.
Mizoram currently has 516 active cases, while 2,876 people have recovered from the infection.  Tripura also reported 17 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday, pushing the state’s tally to 31,962, a health department official said. The death toll mounted to 361 after two more patients succumbed to the virus, he said.
West Tripura district, comprising state capital Agartala, has alone accounted for 185 COVID-19 fatalities.
The state now has 1,046 active cases, while 30,532 people have so far recovered and 23 patients migrated, the official said.
As many as 4,94,630 samples have been tested for coronavirus in Tripura, he added.
