Yimchungrü Tribal Council (YTC) has set a seven-day deadline to the Yimchungrü national workers of NSCN (R) to disassociate themselves from the organisation in the interest of Yimchungrü people from the date of publication of this statement.

In a press release issued by its information & publicity secretary Mathew K Janger, the council warned that if the Yimchungrü national workers of NSCN (R) failed to abide by its directive, they would be ex-communicated from the community as per a resolution adopted on May 13, 2019 at Old Showuba village.

In this connection, YTC said several appeals, representations and memorandums were submitted to NSCN (R). However, it regretted that the latter did not address the issue.

YTC also termed the statement by Yimchungrü national workers of NSCN (R) that it was a clear case of defection as totally “false and baseless” and that it held no water under any circumstances and was uncalled for, as they had agreed in principle and appended their signatures at the meeting on May 13. The council asked the Yimchungrü national workers to abide by its directive as desired by the Yimchungrü community.

Earlier, reacting to the ‘mass resignation’ claim by NSCN (R) Yimchungrü national workers, the NSCN (R) deputy kilonser (defence) Athong Yim, joint secretary Among Yim, PRO Yimto, “major” Lesanmong and “major” Chuba, on behalf of NSCN(R)Yimchunger national workers, stated that at no point in time did they tender resignation.
