71st Republic Day celebrated across the state

Along with the rest of the nation, the 71st Republic Day was celebrated across Nagaland on January 26 under various districts. 

Longleng: Minister for Planning, Land Revenue & Parliamentary Affairs Nagaland, Neiba Kronu was the special guest at Longleng. National anthem was presented by Longleng Town Students’ Union (LTSU). Parade contingents of the celebration included, DEF Longleng, 12th.NAP (IR), Village Guards Longleng HQ, Village Guard Hukphang Village, Bautung Government higher Secondary School Longleng, (Students’ Police Cadet) and Yingli College Longleng. The parade was commanded by Impung Chang, SDPO Longleng. Special guest presented commendation certificate along with cash to the individuals in recognition of outstanding performance and dedication in the management of health care and timely service delivery to the needy. Awards went to the staffs of Tangha Sub Centre, Yongnyah PHC and Yachem CHC under Longleng district. Special guest was accompanied by B. S. Nganlang Phom, MLA and chairman DPDB Longleng. Mokokchung: In Mokokchung the programme was graced by Jacob Zhimomi, minister of PHED at Imkongmeren Sports Complex. He unfurled the national flag and inspected the republic day parade. Programme witnessed entertainment and cultural activities participated by various schools and cultural clubs respectively. Altogether there were 7 parade contingents, with parade commandant, Lipoktemsu, A/C 2nd NAP BN and 2nd I/C, ABI Sihu Semou Angami, SM RHQ, Mkg. Awards to deserving individuals and institutes were given: Under the Directorate of H & FW, best CHC award to Tuli, best PHC award to Mongsenyimti and best sub-centre to Mopungchuket; Award under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), ambassador for girl child, Yongkongsangla (GHS Chuchuyimlang), Temjensula (Senayangba GHSS, Ungma) and Imsenkala Lkr (Queen Mary HSS). Local champions, Dr, Anungla Aier (Salangtem Ward, Mokokchung), Rongsenlemla (Artang Ward). Girl/women achievers, academics: Tiarenla (GHS Dilong), Sports: Imlikumla (Town HSS), Entrepreneurship: Sungjemenla (proprietor of Signum, designing and tailoring), Farming: TemjensanglaLkr (Kinunger village), Culture: Sowazungla (Ungma village). Kiphire: RD was celebrated at public ground Kiphire with minister of Soil & Water Conservation, Geology & Mining V. Kashiho Sangtam as the host. Minister reviewed the parade and unfurled the national flag and read out the Republic Day speech during the occasion. Parade contingents were from 7th Assam Rifle, DEF Kiphire,Village Guard Kiphire, Zisaji Presidency College, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Loyola Hr. Sec. School , Good Shepherd High School Kiphire & band party from the Phulungre Village Guard Kiphire. (Correspondent)

Zunheboto: Zunheboto district celebrated the day, where minister of Agriculture and Co-operation G. Kaito Aye unfurled the national flag. Highlights of the programme included parade by six (6) contingents led by 1st commander Kahuto, assistant commandant 8 NAP Naltoqa and 2nd Commander Taka Temjen, inspector DEF Zunheboto. Prizes were given for best community health center, best public health center and sub-health center which were won by Aghunato, Suruhoto and Sapotimi respectively. 

Tuensang: Tuensang district celebrated at parade ground Tuensang, with Metsubo Jamir, minister of Rural Development as the special guest. The parade review of the event was done by Bharat Laxman Markad, SP Tuensang. Ten contingents took part in the republic day parade headed by I Bunglang Chang Dy. SP as parade commander ABI C and Issak Chang as 2nd in command. Contingents included DEF Tuensang, VG Tuensang Village, VG Kuthur, Home Guards, Ex-Servicemen, NCC Tuensang, SPC GHSS Thangjam, Bharat Scouts & Guides, 28th AR Pipe Band and 3rd NAP Pipe Band. District commendation awards were given to R. Akila Rothrong SDO (Agri), Ghokily Sema asst. nursing superintendent DH Tuensang, M. Chelim Khiam constable district jail Tuensang and Thsathrongse peon EE PHED Tuesang. Medical award were given to CHC Noklak, PHC Longpang and sub center Chingmei. 

Peren: In Peren advisor of Department of Under Developed Areas (DUDA), N. Bongkhao Konyak was the special guest. Parade contingents comprising of 36th Assam Rifles (Band Platoon) Jalukie, DEF Peren, 9th IRB Saijang, NCC Senior Wing (Girls) Peren Govt. College, Sainik School Punglwa, GHSS Peren and All St. Hr. Sec. School Peren took part. Medical department was felicitated as the best performing health units under Peren district while best frontline workers under BBBP were also felicitated. Recipients of the best performing health units were community health centre Jalukie, primary health centre Ahthibung and sub-centre Samziuram and recipients of the best frontline workers under BBBP were Igutzeule (anganwadi worker Jalukie town), Agum Hau (ASHA worker Jalukie-B) and CHILDLINE 1098 Peren.

Wokha: In Wokha the occasion was held at local ground with minister of Transport, Civil Aviation & Railways, Land Resources, P. Paiwang Konyak at the chief guest. Eight parade contingents including pipe band from 40 AR took part in the march pass led by assistant commandant 7th NAP N. Jami and parade 2 i/c ABSI MhabemoNgullie. Highlights of the programme included folk song by Wokha district Differently Abled Persons Association, Wokha Town Elders Women Union, folk dance by Santhan Cultural troupe, music yoga demonstration by JNV Chukitong, special number by Ethungbeni Tsanglao winner of Rising Star 2019.

Mon: Minister of Health & Family Welfare, S. Pangnyu Phom unfurled the national flag at local ground Mon Headquarter. Contingents of 6th NAP BN Tizit, DEF Mon, Village Guards, Ex-Service Men, Konjong HSS NCC, DBS Bharat Scouts and Guides and 6th NAP Pipe Banwere led by parade commander asst. commandant Tiamongba 6th NAP, parade 2 i/c ABI Ngampong DEF Mon, parade CHM hav. Tankai DEF Mon, flagman hav. Mayangmetong DEF Mon, inspection car Naik. L.S. Issac DEF Mon and working cammander hav. Lempa DEF Mon. 

Phek: The occasion was held at Phek Local ground with minister of Housing & Mechanical, Tongpang Ozukum as the chief guest. 11 parade contingents took part. Special acknowledgement was given to Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, CHC Meluri, PHC Poruba and sub-center Phek village. Other highlights included special appearance by divine dancers, folk Song (quartet) sung by PGC, Phek, folk song and folk dance by Mission Compound Colony, Phek town and Kutsapo Cultural Troupe.

Medziphema: Advisor of Sericulture, Excise & Minority Affairs, Zhaleo Rio graced the occasion as the special guest. Parade commander ABI Lanutemsu Ao led the participating contingents including 11th NAP (IR), NCC Girls SFS, SFS School Boys, GHSS Medziphema and 41 AR Pipe Band.

Bhandari: In Bhandari sub division headquarter Mhonlumo Kikon, advisor, Information Technology, Science & Technology and New & Renewable Energy was the special guest. Parade contingents comprising of 7th NAP Bn, DBHSS students, DBHSS boys, DBHSS girls, GHSS Bhandari and 7th NAP unit school Bhandari was led by parade commander N. Wochothung Patton, ABSI 7th NAP Bhandari.

Noklak: In Noklak programme was held at public ground, Noklak with advisor of Prisons, Printing & Stationary, H. Haiying as special guest. Parade contingents consisted of 3rd NAP, Waoshu VG, Langnok VG, Centre Pensioner Union, GHSS, CHS, St. Paul School.

Shamator: Advisor, IPR, SCERT & VG, Toshi Wungtung was the chief guest. March pass was participated by Shamator Town VG, Sangphur VG, Muleangr VG and Shamator College. Other highlights included Folk song by DB led by Topong DB, and pipe band display by 45th AR. Shamator.

Tseminyu: Advisor of Power, Tovihoto Ayemi was special guest on the occasion. Four contingents was led by parade commander ABSI Khakhu Sema of 4th NAP ‘B’ coy Tseminyu. 

Meluri: Advisor of Industries & Commerce, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Labour & Employment, Imnatiba graced the function as special guest. Parade contingents namely VGs of New Akhegwo, VGs of Akhegwo village, VGs of Matikhrü village, VGs of Lephory village, 5th NAP of Meluri and piper band of Meluri VGs participated. 

Niuland: In Nuiland, advisor CAWD, NSDMA Kazheto Kinimi was the special guest. Six parade contingents took part. 

Pungro: Chief guest Abhinav Shivam ADC Pungro hoisted the national flag at public ground Pungro town, followed by the inspection of parade contingents. The contingents were Village Guard Pungro, Little flower school, Christians School, Govt. Higher Sec. School , Saramati School, Mount Horse Baptist School Pungro and beating of retreat by the Zhimkiur V.G village.

NCSU: Nagaland Contractor & Suppliers Union (NCSU) visited Naga Hospital Authority Kohima led by NCSU president Pele Khezhie. Necessary arrangements were made by the managing director NHAK Dr Thorise Katiry and nurses. 

DDCF: Dimapur District Citizens Forum (DDCF) office bearers led by its president Yibemo Kikon visited Asha Bhavan, located at Vidima village Chumukdima Dimapur and donated them with some cash and kind. DDCF officials met and interacted with the children and the inmates and also met Asha Bhavan, director Albert Yore and his wife Ivonne Yore. 

KPC: Kohima Press Club (KPC) visited the Kripa Foundation Centre Kohima on the occasion. KPC general secretary, Atono Tsükrü Kense delivered a brief speech on the occasion and explained the reason behind the good-will visitation. Altogether, 12 members of the club participated in the visitation.

PVHSSD: Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School Dimapur (PVHSSD) observed the day with principal Monoj Bhattacharjee, wherein he advised students should be mentally and physically well prepared for attending common goal in life.

RCD: Rotary Club of Dimapur (RCD) installed at DDSC stadium drinking water facilities for the people present to witness the RD. Rotary Dimapur along with Inner Wheel Club and Rotaractors also joined in hoisting the national flag and celebrated the occasion at Rotary Centre.

173 BN CRPF, Dimapur: 173 Bn CRPF celebrated at unit headquarter at Airfield, Dimapur. Vishnu Gautam, Commandant hoisted the national flag and gave a brief speech. Programme was attended by all ranks and children of Nagaland Orphanage Home, Diphupar. 

GUD & GSUD: Gorkha Union Dimapur (GUD) & Gorkha Students’ Union Dimapur (GSUD) visited St. Joshep Orphanage Home hosted by chairman Kumar Subbha DGU.

DHYO: Dimapur Hindu Youth Organisation (DHYO) celebrated the day at Neighbourhood Children’s Home Dimapur, with hoisting national flag by Pintu Ghosh gen. secretary BJP minority morcha state.

IRCS Dimapur district branch: IRCS Dimapur district branch Nagaland visited Bethesda Youth Rehabilitation Center, Dimapur led by chairman Chandu Agarwal, vice-chairman Ajay Sethi & honorary secretary K. K. Paul. All the inmates of the center were present with programme officer of the center Longshi. 

SSP: Sainik School Punglwa celebrated with Gp Capt Prasun Basu, principal of the school as the chief guest. Chief guest exhorted the cadets to fulfil Mahatma Gandhiji and Dr BR Ambedkar’s dream of a free and Republic India.

Dimapur Bongs: Dimapur Bongs celebrated the occasion by sponsoring the admission fees of altogether 23 needy and meritorious students. Dimapur Bongs also visited the Spring Buds Orphanage Home, 5th Mile, Sovima, Dimapur.

DBSU: Dimapur Bengali Students’ Union (DBSU) celebrated the day at its office premises. DBSU president Rajen Roy unfurled the tricolour on the occasion, in the presence of all the members and office bearers.

Satakha: In Satakha programme was held at public ground with ADC Satakha TL Kisumong Tikhir, NCS, as special guest. Six parade contingents were led by ABSI, Lani Temjenm, followed by special song by Limiti Muru and cultural presentation by schools colony STH. 

Changtongya Town: In Changtongya town, programme was at SDO (C) office complex, where SDO (C) Moakumzuk Tzudir unfurled the national flag and salutation by I/c OC Police Station Changtongya town. National Anthem was sung by Christian Standard Higher Secondary School Changtongya town.

Atoizu: Atoizu ADC Hq celebrated at Atoizu public ground with ADC Atoizu Arikumba as special guest. Highlights of the programme was unfurling of the national flag and speech by special guest, entertainment presentation by SUAT and KPA groups and OC, OP Atoizu concluded the programme with beating of retreat.

Tizit: Er. Zale Neikha advisor, Youth Resources and Sports hoisted the national flag at local ground Tizit and received salute from Tizit battalions. 

DPS: Delhi Public School Dimapur (DPS) observed the day with B.K Nanda, principal, faculty, staff members and students.

COVS& AH: College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (COVS&AH) Jalukie, celebrated the day by unfurling the national flag by dean Dr Capt G Dhanan Jaya Rao in the presence of students, faculty and staff of the college.
