72nd Republic Day celebrated across Nagaland

Along with the rest of the nation, Nagaland also took part in the 72nd Republic Day (R-Day) on January 26, where national flag was unfurled and rashtriya salute taken by ministers and advisors in the different districts.

Longleng: Minister of Rural Development, Metsubo Jamir was the special guest at the celebration at Longleng, where he unfurled the national flag and took the rastriya salute from the parade contingents. National anthem was presented by the students of St. Josephs’ School Longleng. Metsubo also inspected the parade contingents before delivering the speech. Parade contingents included, DEF Longleng, 12th.NAP (IR), Village guards Longleng HQ, Village Guard Orangkong Village, Bautung Government higher Secondary School Longleng and Students’ Police Cadet from Bautung Government Higher Secondary School Longleng, led by parade commandant Impung Chang, SDPO Longleng. Special guest inaugurated an exhibition stall which was put up by various Self Help Groups (SHG) and government departments of Longleng district. Minister also presented commendation certificates along with cash to the individuals in recognition of their outstanding performance and dedication in farming sector which was awarded by ATMA Longleng, to three selected farmers of three blocks under Longleng district. Mokokchung: In Mokokchung, minister of Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along unfurled the national flag at Imkongmeren Sports Complex. The chief guest inspected the parade and delivered the Republic Day speech and also took the salute of march past contingents, led by parade commander assistant commandant Y.E Ngullie, 2nd NAP Alichen. The parade contingents consisted of DEF Mokokchung, 2nd NAP Alichen and Home Guards and Civil Defense. Temjen also presented awards to government schools for achieving 100% transition of girl child students in the primary level of classes V to VI and the upper primary level of classes VIII to IX during the academic year of 2019-20 from Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), a campaign of the government of India. Minister inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up by various government departments. (Correspondent)

Tuensang: Minister of Public Health Engineering, Jacob Zhimomi took the salute and inspected parade contingents, one each from DEF and 3rd NAP and 3rd NAP Pipe band with Bunglang Chang DySP (R) as parade commander and Athriti (SM) as 2 I/C while Chang, Sangtam and Yimchunger cultural troupes presented cultural item. District commendation awards were also given to various individuals and organisations. Jacob also inaugurated the exhibition stall organised by Agri and Allied Departments Tuensang along with BBBP. 

Mon: Minister of Mechanical & Housing, Tongpang Ozukum graced R-Day at Mon HQ local ground. Four contingents of 6th NAP, DEF Mon, Village Guard & 6th NAP pipe band took part in the march pass. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Mon also felicitated 16 people on the occasion and a cultural dance was performed by the Leangha Union Mon Town. 

Peren: Minister of Soil & Water Conservation, Geology & Mining, V. Kashiho Sangtam was the special guest at Peren and took rashtriya salute from the parade contingents. Parade contingents comprising of DEF Peren, 9th IRB Saijang, All Saints Hr. Sec. School Peren and School Police Cadet, GHSS Jalukie participated in the march past. In Jalukie, ADC, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang unfurled the national flag.

Phek: Minister of Planning & Co-ordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu unfurled the national flag/rashtriya salute/national anthem, inspected parade contingents and felicitated local championship under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. He took salute from march past contingents comprising of 22 Assam Rifles, Phek, DEF, Phek, 5th NAP Bn. Phek, NCC GHSS, Phek, Student Police Cadet Phek, Government Higher Secondary school Phek, Holy Care School Phek and Royal Foundation School Phek. He also inaugurated the exhibition stalls put up by various department and NGOs. 

Zunheboto: Minister of Transport and Land Resource, Paiwang Konyak unfurled the national flag. Highlights of the programme included parade by four contingents i.e 8 NAP, DEF, Home Guard, Ex-serviceman and Assam Rifles led by 1st commander Tongpang Ao, assistant commandant and 2nd Commander Inaxu, sub inspector Zunheboto. Awards were given to various VDBs (i.e 24 VDBs in total) under different blocks in Zunheboto, who have implemented MORD and state programme satisfactorily as well as maintaining the VDBs assets properly during 2019-2020 and 2020-2021.

Wokha: Advisor of Food & Civil Supplies, Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection & Taxes, Phukayi was the chief guest. He also handed over district level awards 2021 and commendation awards were also given. Parade contingents was led by assistant commandant 7th NAP Y. Ashito Aye, where five parade contingents took part in the march past.

Noklak: Advisor, Prisons, Printing & Stationery, H. Haiying unfurled the national flag and took salute at local ground, Noklak on 26th January 2021. Parade contingents consisted of DEF, Noklak, Village Guard, Tsuwao and Village Guard Choklangan. Assistant commandant, 3rd NAP Logubo was the parade commander and ABI, Imkum Meren Imsong of DEF, Noklak was second in command. Parade review was done by SP, Noklak. Haiying also visited the stall of weapon display by A Coy 45 Assam Rifles. 

Kiphire: Advisor of Technical Education & Election, Medo Yokha as special guest at public ground in Kiphire read out the Republic Day speech. Earlier, the special guest inaugurated the stalls put up by various departments and NGOs and a special song was presented by Marlen Sangtam. On the occasion of Republic Day, SBI Kiphire will pay visit to Shalom Children Home, NSCB Kiphire to district Hospital while IRCS Kiphire branch will visit District Jail Kiphire. (Correspondent)

Shamator: Shamator celebrated R-Day at public ground. Chief guest, advisor, of I&PR, SCERT and VG, Toshi Wungtung unfurled the national flag, inspected the parade contingents followed by reading of speech. Special songs were presented by youth department i/c Allen and Lawola Yimchunger and GBs presented folk song while Lünsoberü cultural troupe and Mongtsuwong cultural troupes presented cultural items. The chief guest also inaugurated stalls and held meeting with Shamator Officers’ Forum.

Tseminyu: ADC Tseminyu, W Manpai Phom was special guest who unfurled national flag, took the salute and read the speech. The national anthem was sung by 4th NAP coy youth department. Other highlights of the programme were folk song by Kandi Shenpfu Zi, Tseminyu and DBs Tseminyu HQ.

Pungro: EAC Pungro, Nuhuta Tunyi hoisted the flag at ADC office Pungro and also took the salute.Traditional and folk song was presented by Shodangberu cultural troupe Pungro. The chief guest also inaugurated exhibition stalls put up by department of Agri Pungro, Rural Development and State Rural Livelihood Mission, RD Khongsa. 

Chen: SDO (civil), Chen Samuel Konyak unfurled the national flag and took rashtriya salute from NVG Chen Hq. government officers, GBs, DBs, and public from Chen area attended the celebration.

Meluri: ADC Meluri, Chuba Temjen unfurled the national flag and took salute from 5th NAP coy Meluri. The function was attended by HoDs, NGOs and public leaders.

Pfutsero: ADC Pfutsero, Phuleshe Yepthomi unfurled the national flag and took the rashtriya salute and later read out the speech. Special song was presented by children home Rukizu and folk song by Reku colony.

Tuli: ADC Tuli, Imsongmeren unfurled the national flag, took rashtriya salute from Tuli DEF personnel and read the message in the presence of government officials, GBs and public leaders. 

Changtongya: SDO (C) Moakumzuk Tzudir as chief guest unfurled the flag and took salute from I/C OC Police Station Changtongya followed by republic day speech.

Wakching: SDO (C), Relise Sangtam unfurled the national flag. GBs &DBs and govt employees attended the function.

Longkhim: ADC Longkhim, Kikumsungla Jamir was chief guest and unfurled the flag, took salute and read out the speech. 32nd Assam Rifles B Coy Longkim displayed weapons.

Thonoknyu: SDO (C), Longdiba L Sangtam unfurled the flag and took salute from Nagaland Police Thonoknyu. DBs, GBs and town VGs attended the programme.

Medziphema: ADC Medziphema, Thsuvisie Phoji was chief guest and unfurled the national flag, took the rashtriya salute and delivered the speech. 11th NAP (IR) Bn Ruzaphema led by parade commander ABI Wabang Longkumer took part in the celebration. 

Pughoboto: ADC Pughoboto, Thungchanbemo Tungoe as chief guest unfurled national flag and took the rashtriya salute from 8th NAP Naltoqa ‘A’ Coy parade contingent and DEF Pughoboto followed by national anthem sung by PPKK. He also read out Republic Day Speech and inaugurated the stalls put up by SHGs.

Satakha: ADC Satakha, TL Kiusumong Tikhir unfurled the national flag and delivered Republic Day speech.

Bhandari: ADC Bhandari Tiameren Chang unfurled the national flag and took rashtriya salute from 7NAP parade contingent. 

Jakhama: SDO (C), Ruopfukuotou hosted the national flag and delivered the speech. 

Tobu: At Tobu HQ, local ground Tobu, special guest Mudongoyi Chuzho unfurled the national flag and took rashtriya salute and delivered speech.

Chiephobozou: ADC, Chiephobozou, Vekhoyi Chakhesang unfurled the flag and took salute followed by national anthem and his address.

Tizit: ADC Tizit, Pakon Phom unfurled the national flag and took salute. National anthem was sung by St. Francis School Tizit. March past contingents were 6th NAP Tizit, Village Guard, Oting Village, NCC Tizit & Govt. Higher Secondary School, Tizit.

Niuland: ADC, Niuland, Athrila S unfurled the national flag while 8th NAP ‘C’ Coy presented guard of honour with ABSI, Oren Lotha as parade commander. 

Tening: ADC, Rhosietho Nguori unfurled national flag and took salute while national anthem was led by Baptist High School. 

Mangkolemba: SDO (C), Atsüngba Walling unfurled the flag and took rashtriya salute and delivered the speech. 

Seyochung: ADC Seyochung, Japth Woch unfurled the national flag and read out the speech. Parade contingents included VG Seyochung HQ led by Nikihe chick Seyochung area VG commander. National anthem was sung by St. Mary’s High School.

Naginimora: ADC Naginimora, Renabemo Odyuo unfurled national flag followed by national anthem sung by Carewell School and rashtriya salute from 6th NAP. 

Aboi: Aboi Town R-Day celebration was held at local ground Aboi with ADC Aboi, Chumlamo Humtsoe as special guest, who unfurled national flag, took salute and read out the speech. National Anthem was also presented by BBBP Girls Club, Aboi. Tsukjem Ao, ABSI was the parade commander while Manchan (Hav) NP was the 2nd parade commander. There were three parade contingents included VG Longching, VG Aopao and DEF, Aboi. 

CVS&AH: College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (CVS&AH), Jalukie, Peren, observed R-Day at college campus with faculty, staff and family members. Dean of college, Dr. AK Sangwan highlighted the salient achievements of the institute during the past year. 

IWC Dimapur: Inner Wheel Club (IWC) Dimapur led by president Sanjukta Bhattacharjee unfurled national flag at Rotary Centre, Dimapur on January 26. 

ATMA Mokokchung: ATMA Mokokchung organised district level exhibition and sales day at local ground Mokokchung, inaugurated by minister of Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along. Six SHGs from different blocks of Mokokchung, various agri and allied departments and agencies also participated. 

Deptt of Posts: Department of Posts, India observed the day at Dimapur post office with hoisting of national flag led by NE-II region Dimapur postmaster general, Som Kamie along with staff of regional office and Dimapur. 

NPP Nagaland state unit: NPP Nagaland state along with its minority cell and youths held a bike rally consisting of more than 50 bikers covering nearly 8km, flagged off by the state NPP president Dr Andrew Ahoto from Thahekhu Gate towards DC office junction and culminated at the NPP state office. A press release by NPP Nagaland state IPR & media cell stated that, Dr Andrew encouraged the crowd, while NPP state minority cell, Juel Acharjee thanked all the audience. Programme convenor was Shiv Kumar Das along with co-convenor Apu Sarkar

SSPN: In Sainik School Punglwa Nagaland (SSPN), Group Captain Prasun Basu, principal of the school graced the occasion as the chief guest and unfurled the tricolor. Principal gave away gifts to the general employees and the Nagaland Armed Police (NAP) personnel posted in the school.

LCD: Leo Club of Dimapur (LCD) along with Lions Club of Dimapur and Lions Club of Blue Vanda Dimapur celebrated by unfurling the national flag at the club premise. Flag was unfurled by presidents of all the three clubs in the presence of DG Lion Lalita R. Khadra and IPDP Leo Rishab Chhabra. 

173 Bn CRPF, Dimapur: 173 Bn CRPF celebrated the day at battalion headquater Airfield Dimapur. Commandant 173Bn, Vishnu Gautam hoisted the national flag and took the salute. 

Dimapur Bongs: Dimapur Bongs observed the day at its office premises, with hoisting of the tricolour followed by the national anthem. President of Bengali Samaj, K. K. Paul as chief guest encouraged all the youths and Dimapur Bongs member Sandeep Saha highlighted the importance of the day. 

IRCS: As advised by Dimapur district administration, Dr. Amos Lkr on behalf of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Dimapur district branch along with his nursing volunteers distributed face masks to visitors at DDSC stadium on 72nd Republic Day, which was supported by the members of Red Cross, Sujoy Das and Mamta Karir.

B/155BN Khehokhu village: B/155BN posted at Signboard (Khehokhu village) celebrated the day with assistant GB of Hoito village, Z. Ahoto Awomi as the chief guest who unfurled the flag and delivered a speech. Programme was organised under the patronage of Mukesh Kumar Tyagi commandant 155BN, A.K Hussain OC 155BN and GBs of surrounding village areas.
