H. Khehovi Yepthomi, advisor Tourism, Art & Culture said that present generation were reaping what the forefathers had sown in the past and the sacrifices made by the elders, leaders and GBs. 

According to DIPR report, Yepthomi said this while addressing at the 75th anniversary of Suruhuto town range headquarter at Suruhoto on February 5. 

Yepthomi added that one must feel blessed to be part of the jubilee and learn to respect one another, to live a merciful life and have faith in God in order to take the society forward. He also stressed on the importance of national population census and asked all the people to enroll in the national population census starting next month.

SDO (C) Suruhoto Dr. Kuzonyi Wideo in his greetings said that he was most blessed to attend the 75th anniversary during his one year stint as SDO (C). He thanked the pioneers who started Suruhoto town and also stated that literacy rate of Suruhoto is 92% according to government official data as compared to 79.02 percent of state official data, showing much improvement in educational field.

He acknowledged Suruhoto public health centre (PHC) which was awarded as one of the best public health centre during this year’s Republic Day celebration and thanked Dr. Renchamo and his team for making Suruhoto proud. 

He also acknowledged Holuto who was awarded as best BLO in district and state during the recently held electoral revision. He encouraged the government employees to take one’s work or job seriously and be productive consumers by giving their best for development of the town.

Shetoyi Yeptho, former MLA in his speech advised the GBs, elders and leaders to always remember God in good or bad times and encouraged them to take firm decision and fair judgements because if the GBs and elders start making biased decision in lieu of earthly values than their village will never prosper. 

Kiyezhe Aye, ex-minister who unveiled the souvenir said that the blessing which is with the people of Suruhoto will be gone if one does not acknowledge the sacrifices made by the forefathers. He asked the people to hold a special prayer for the forefathers if they wanted blessings to be with them in the future too.

Earlier, programme started with unveiling of the jubilee stone by special guest Khehovi Yepthomi. Dr. Joshua Rochill pronounced the invocation prayer, opening song was given by jubilee choir. Welcome speech was pronounced by Kheniho Jakhalu, head GB Surumi village. Special number was presented by STH Suruhota unit, vote of thanks by Hovishe Shikhu, ATC chairman and benediction was pronounced by pastor Vikishe Awomi.
