After two days of interview, 80 students have been selected to undergo training at Emporium Skill Training Institute (ESTI) in Dimapur under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) scheme.

PMKVY scheme is a flagship Skill Development scheme of Government of India and in the state, the scheme is implemented by the Directorate of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (DESDE).

The students were selected at the campus interview conducted by The Ritz-Carlton, world best hospitality brand from United States at the Emporium Skill Training Institute, Dimapur on May 9 and 10.

The selected students will get facilities like free food and fully furnished company accommodation, etc.

The interviews were conducted by hotel manager, Manav Malhotra and director, human resources, Payal Kulkarni.

Speaking at the programme, assistant director, DESDE, Zubemo Lotha Tsanglao said that in order to solve the unemployment issue in the state, Nagas must do away with the mentality of only looking for government jobs. He opined that the youths needed to gear up with skill trainings in various sectors to penetrate into private sectors like aviation, hospitality, tourism, construction etc.

He also said that DESDE was hopeful that by year end, their training partners, empanelled under the department would be able to at least train 8000 to 9000 Naga youths under PMKVY scheme and for further placement in various private sectors in the country.

He further pointed out under PMKVY scheme, a target has been set to skill 33,000 Naga youths by 2020. However, he said whether Naga youths would voluntarily come forward to undergo the skill training in various parts of the country. Meanwhile, according to DIPR, ESTI has signed a MoU with The Ritz-Carlton as an official recruitment partner in India and ESTI is currently training 220 students every quarter under PMKVY scheme in Nagaland.
