Federal Bank “Your perfect banking partner” with ATM  facility was inaugurated by commissioner and secretary, works and housing department, Kohima, Temjen Toy IAS at Kros plaza TCP gate Kohima on Monday.

Temjen addressing the gathering as chief guest said Federal Bank has shown enormous growth from a single bank in 1931 to 1000 branches and now spread all over India.

While congratulating the bank for opening the new branch in Kohima, the second in the state after Dimapur, he also reminded the bank officials to be in the race for competition with other banks in town.

He wished the bank the very best and also requested the authorities to open more branches in the state as they have the potential.  

Debadutta Parija AGM & regional head, Federal Bank Guwahati in his address said the history of Federal Bank dates back to pre-Independence era, known as Travancore Federal Bank and gradually transformed into a full-fledged bank under the leadership of its founder, K P Hormis.

He said the name Federal Bank Limited was officially announced in the year 1947 with its headquarters nestled on the banks on the river Periyar Kerala. Since then, there has been no looking back and the bank has become one of the strongest and most stable banks in the country, he added.

Parija said Federal Bank was adjudged the winner of the ‘Best Bank Award’ for “Mobile Banking and Electronic Payments” 2011-12 and the ‘Best Bank Award’ for “CRM & Business Intelligence Initiatives” 2011-12 among small banks by the Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDBRT).

Federal Bank is the fourth largest and one of the best among the private sector banks in India, he added.
Stressing on the progress of Federal Bank in the region, he said till last year, there were only 7 branches in the north east, but it now has 19 branches and hopes to open 30 more branches in the region by the end of this year.
Earlier, welcome speech was delivered by Raunak Advani officer Kohima branch.

The programme was led by chairman Kros educational society, Thejasilie, and Kevisiezolie Suohu, the owner of the building said the felicitation speech, while vote of thanks was proposed by Bosco Joseph, branch head Kohima.
Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of the Diocese of Kohima invoked God’s blessing and also inaugurated the bank.
