Five filmmakers from Nagaland to visit US

Filmmakers from Nagaland, will be visiting the US this month on an invitation by Professors Heather Layton, University of Rochester and Brian Bailey, Nazareth college. Addressing a press meet at Dream Café on Wednesday, XL director Abu Metha disclosed the five filmmakers Sesino Yhoshu, Sophy Lasuh, Myingthungo (Ababe) Lotha, Liyo Kikon and Kele Yhoshu will visit United States starting July 15 to 26. “The five member team is expected to make its presence felt at the US”, stated Abu Metha and revealed that a film “Debt” will be screened in America. The main aim of XL is to promote Naga youth to various fields and make them equal citizens in the global village, said XL director, Abu Metha and claimed the Naga youth are no lesser than their counterparts. The XL team thanked the state government and chief minister Neiphiu Rio for sponsoring the five filmmakers through the Chief Minister’s Corpus Fund. XL also thanked Professor Heather Layton, University of Rochester and Brian Bailey, Nazareth College for inviting the filmmakers to the US. It may be mentioned that Layton and Bailey visited Nagaland during the Hornbill festival and also took part in the Global International Film Festival organized by XL. Talking about the film “Debt”, Liyo Kikon said the film, a 20 minutes duration film was produced with zero budget in three days starring local actors. The film would also be screened in Nagaland next month, added Kikon. XL members Theja Meru, Dr. Tolto Metha and Neingulie Nakhro were also press during the press conference.
