Auditions held; impressive turn out

Auditions for the annual Miss Dimapur 2012: Beauty for a cause was held Saturday at Hiyo Café, basement Aiko Building, where aspiring girls thronged the venue for the spot selection to compete for this year’s district beauty ambassador during the grand finale on July 20.

On July 17, the selected contestants would be taken to Niathu Resort for its official photo session and from July 18 till the grand finale the contestants would be lodged at AIDA centre, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School campus, Dimapur. 

Selected candidates have also been informed to report at 9.30 am at Hiyo Café on July 17 to proceed for the photo session.

In order to make the pageant attractive, the society has announced that apart from the enhanced prize money of `50,000, `30,000, and `20,000 respectively, the three main winners will also win One Colour TV each while the top five contestants and the four added titles, two for Miss NE Supermodel contest and two for Miss Luit, Miss East India contest would win intricately designed watches from the World of Titan showroom apart from other contracts.

Besides the announcement of the special stipend of `2000 each, Birla Sunlife Insurance, will also sponsor a special insurance policy worth `5 lakhs each for all the selected contestants.

Organized by the Ethnic Group of Nagaland (EGoN), Miss Dimapur 2012 is being co-sponsored by the “Queensberry Foundation” welfare society, a Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) registered with the Government of Nagaland.
Glamazone, Dimapur, will be the official make-up partner for the show.

DIMUL has also come forward to sponsor ice creams for the contestant and officials during the photo session and also would provide complimentary Lassi to the audience and others on the show night.

Meanwhile, talking to this reporter, EGoN officials said as part of its social service towards humanity, it would collect “sunshine offering” from the audience which would be handed over to a relative of Atsula Kips, a 10 year old girl who is suffering from a multiple acute heart ailment requiring major surgery along with some amount from EGoN on the night of the show.

Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre (NTTC), Dimapur, Nagaland held its ‘Summer Fest on August 19 at the centre’s premises.
The main objective of the fest was focused on encouraging the talents of the students musically by creating platforms and motivate to uplift the moral character of the students.
Special feature of the event included screening of movie - NANA - A Tale of Us by Dreamz Unlimited. The characters in the movie spoke and showed the reflection of many viewers where one can relate oneself at different stages of life. It left many laughing and crying yet a reminder on one’s role on how one can make a difference in building our people and the impact of change through one person’s change of heart.
 Following the screening, an interactive session was held during which Dreamz Unlimited director-Tiakumzuk Aier, spoke about how to define success and not compare with one’s journey with someone else’s but chart out one’s own through hard work and dedication towards what one has
