Within their limited capacity though, the Team Metamorphosis has been working selflessly for the past seven years with the student’s (particularly – Wokha district), not that students from other districts are not equally important.

Team Metamorphosis is a non- profit NGO registered with the Home department Govt. of Nagaland. As the vision got clearer, the team started an event called the Campus Icon with its theme ‘Music for better education’ which was paraphrased from Fender’s research that “Student’s who are interested in music also do better in school”.

Fender being an internationally recognized and highly reputed guitar company must have done a very detailed survey and it has been proved even through Campus Icon, that their research is absolutely true.

A lot of students who have participated in Campus Icon have shown drastic improvement in their studies as well. Looking back at the time when it started, the Team have been able to academically achieve quite a success: Bideno Lotha Campus Icon season 2, then a student of class was able to secure 1st division in her final examination and for which she got academic scholarship in the following year, Thungchobeni R Tsopoe a student of class 9; Campus Icon Season 5 also got academic scholarship as she also secured above 60% in all her subjects in her final examination.

Many others though could not secure 60% have been able to pass out very well in their final examinations as they worked targeting the excellent grade.

Besides being recognized by the society in which they are in, many have discovered, developed and popularized their latent musical talents and skills.

At campus Icon, participants don’t only discover and develop what they have in them, but they also learn more about life (they develop character, know more about spiritual life/God and learn to adapt with different situations and cultures).

As such, one of the activities conducted by Team Metamorphosis is the facility of ‘Educational Tour for the finalists’. The Campus Icon finalists of 3rd and 4th edition had the privilege of going to Shillong where all the expenditures were borne by the organizers.

During the tour, they got to visit a lot of places, meet different people from various cultures and also got to perform their musical talents in different schools. At the end of the tour, each one wrote a journal and submitted to the office of the organizers.

After all these experiences, the Team is set to allow participants from other districts as well to join the race of Campus Icon season 6 or the 6th edition. If the participants coming from outside of Wokha town reach into the final, they (the participant) will be given their travel expenses.

Ever since its inception, the Team had a set of judges from outside Wokha district to make the participants have the confidence that there is no tribalism, favoritism or any ism and whatever the outcome may be, the decision of the judges has always been final and binding.

The permanent jury of Campus Icon are comprised of Pipososang Jamir, Wasenmo Apon and David Koza. In the last season, the Team had the privilege of having Zhalie Nienu, an accomplished Naga musician who has even earned a name in the USA as he lived there for about 20 years.

He studied music, theology, worked in Churches and had a band called the ‘SEED’.
