‘Fender’ presents guitar playing contest

To add more colour to the Hornbill festival this year for guitarists, Rattle & Hum Music Society and Onstage Guwahati would be organizing a guitar playing contest “Fender” on December 3, 10 a.m. at Life Pro Café, Solo complex, opposite IOC petrol pump Mohonkhola, Kohima.

This was announced during a press conference at Dream Café attended by Thejakielie Zuyie (Life Pro), Anjan Bhuyan and Pratap both from Onstage Guwahati.

The first prize winner would be given a ‘Fender’ guitar (electric) worth Rs. 28,000, second prize- ‘Fender’ guitar (electric) worth Rs. 16,000 and third prize ‘Hollow Fender guitar’ worth Rs. 8,500.

There would be two levels of competition -  track music with traditional 12 bar blues scale with the following structures AAAA, DD, AA, E, D, A, E where the guitarist will have to jam with it.

The judges would shortlist the player’s list for the final round and another Blues scale will be played in the key of G7 and the most versatile guitarist would be declared the winner, the organizers informed, adding, participants are to bring their own guitars and gadgets.

Registration is free and can be done by simply calling or by sending an SMS name space (e.g. JAMES FENDER) to 9856123203, before December 1.

Anjan Bhuyan said ‘Fender’ believes in appreciating talented guitarist and giving them the opportunity and platform to showcase their talent.

He said, “We understand that getting the right kind of instrument in the North East region is necessary and here ‘Onstage Guwahati’ is making Fender guitars available in stores for the region with three in Dimapur - Encore, Live sound and Mountain Music”.

Bhuyan further looked forward to opening stores all over Nagaland including the state capital soon. Pratap said ‘Fender’ is an US company which is about hundred years old having many branches in different countries and around 200 dealers in India alone and North East India has around 45 stores. He also shared the advantages and benefits of possessing ‘Fender’ guitar for the guitarists.

Nagaland University Students’ Union, Lumami celebrated its 18th varsity three days campus Cultural and Literary Meet 2017 under the theme ‘Achieving Excellence through Renaissance of Culture and Literature Expression’. 
On the first day, NU land spokesperson and former minister, Kheto was the chief guest while NU vice chancellor was the guest of honour. 
On the second day event Controller of Examination was the chief guest and dean of students’ welfare was the guest of honor.

Different cultural songs, folklores, dramas were presented by Ao, Sumi, Tenyimia, Lotha and Eastern fellowship with various indigenous  games competition like pole climbing, pork eating, 7 stones, etc.
