Karnataka government to deploy Rapid Action Force in Bangalore to protect NE people

As a confidence building measure, Karnataka’s deputy chief minister R Ashoka, who also hold home portfolio and law minister S Suresh Kumar held meeting with various business establishment associations like Kassia, shopping mall associations, security agencies, IT sector and local area associations to instill confidence among the northeast people working in their business set ups.
According to plan worked out, Ashoka said, if northeast people are working in a particular hotel, the management should tag them along with other localalites working in the same organization round the clock.
The situation in Bangalore appeared to be under control on Friday with only 2,000 people from northeast booking train tickets from Bangalore.
“In last two days as many as 16,000 people fled the state. Due government efforts, exodus has reduced,” home minister said. Northeastern people from neighbouring states have chosen Bangalore to flee to their native as the state has arranged special trains to them, he said while reasoning out large fleeing from Bangalore.
“Six cases have been booked so far. We have sought Centre’s help. Around 600 Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel will be deployed in Bangalore, Mysore and Mangalore for additional security for the northeast people. The RAF will be in addition to Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) battalion,” Ashoka said.
Suresh Kumar said the government has sent second report to the Centre in as many days on the measures taken to contain exodus.
