Mukul Wasnik assures assistance in welfare works

Union Minister for social justice and empowerment Mukul Wasnik on Saturday stressed the need to expedite implementation process for welfare schemes for the underprivileged section of the society. He assured that his ministry would provide all requirements in taking up welfare works for the weaker section of society.
The union minister, who visited government deaf and dump school in Imphal before on his two-day visit to Manipur, said his ministry was ready to provide all requirements needed in expedition of implementing centrally sponsored schemes in the state.
“It is the duty of my ministry to outreach the underprivileged section of society” he said while stressing the need to create more awareness about various central schemes related to drug abuse and rehabilitation, welfare for senior citizens and persons with disabilities being implemented in the state to achieve this end. The union minister also said he consulted with the state chief minister, O Ibobi Singh to provide beneficiaries of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) to deaf and dump school of the state. Mukul Wasnik, while expressing the need for transparency in the implementation of the centrally sponsored schemes said the implementing agency (social welfare department) should ensure that benefits of these schemes reach the people.
Mukul and officials of Social Justice and Empowerment ministry including secretary KM Acharya, joint secretary and financial AN Jha and PS to minister Dr Harsh Deep Kamble left Imphal Saturday afternoon for New Delhi.
