Three Karbi people’s liberation tigers (KPLT) militants were killed in a joint operation with the security forces, Assam police and Cobra commandos of CRPF during wee hours Wednesday, at Tarapung locality under Dolamara police station in eastern Karbi Anglong.

Based on specific information provided by Gagaraj corps of military intelligence, an Assam police officer on condition of anonymity said the militants fired upon them when they zeroed their possession.

During the encounter three hard core cadres were gunned down which lasted for about an hour. The deceased have been identified as Pan Ronghang of Rongbongvey village, Longkiri Rongpi of Arlongchihu village and Hongtong Teron of Howraghat locality.

Three AK 56 rifles along with huge number of assorted ammunitions were recovered from the slain militants. BB Chetri Superintendent of police, Karbi Anglong said  that the cadres killed in today’s operation were senior member of the organization.
