Misery rained upon Sihai villagers again on Sunday as three more persons died and five others critically injured in a truck accident in less than 24 hours after the loss of three lives in Phangrei violence.

On Sunday, a Shaktiman truck carrying 40 passengers from Sihai Khunou village met with an accident between Khamasom and Sihai Khullen at about 9.45am. Three persons died on the spot and five others including a woman were seriously hurt.

The victims were identified as H Thotchui (21), s/o H Chihanpam, H tangkahao (45), s/o (Lt) H Vashum and S. Pamching (33), s/o S Malungring. The injured persons were rushed to Ukhrul and admitted at private hospital Comprehensive Health Services and Research Centre (CHSRC).

The passenger-loaded vehicle, according to the locals, was on their way to attend funeral service at Sihai Khullen for the three persons killed in Phangrei clash yesterday. Today’s victims are from Sihai Khunou while the three killed yesterday are from Sihai Khullen.

More or less, both the villages have same origination.
Locals said the truck (MN 014555) veered off the road after a brake failure and rolled down a rough terrain.
