Manipur’s opposition MLA I. Ibohanbi has raised a calling attention motion on killing of three Manipuris in an alleged fake encounter in Dimapur in the House Thursday.

Raising the motion, Ibohanbi stated that the incident happened in March, 2010 in Dimapur where three Manipuris, namely RK Roshan alias Ronel from Tera, Th Prem from Langol Laimani and Th Naobi from Imphal were allegedly killed in a fake encounter by the intelligence unit of 3 Corps at Dimapur and later disposed off their bodies at Lakhijan, Karbi Anglong in Assam.

He questioned the state government as to why it had not initiated any action against the killing of three Manipuris. The matter came to light after the incumbent chief of Army Staff Bikram Singh expressed his desire to conduct an enquiry into the incident, a Imphal Free Press report stated.

GOC 3 Corps has also been intimated by General VK Singh to conduct a probe into the incident, but nothing has been done in this regard, Ibohanbi noted. He also asked if the Manipur Police had nothing to do in this incident.

Although no complaints were received from the families of the three found murdered at Lakhijan in Karbi Anglong, Assam after they were abducted from Dimapur, police have been investigating into the case, stated Home Minister Gaikhangam. However, Ibohanbi expressed his desire of handing over the case to an independent investigating agency such as CBI.

NPN Adds: Meanwhile, talking to Nagaland Post Friday, Nagaland Police source said that the case regarding the alleged fake encounter was registered at Diphupar police station. However, since there was no progress in the investigation, the case was more or less closed, the source added.
