Ruling Congress returned yet again demolishing its closest rival, Peoples Alliance for Peace Agreement (PAPA) in the town committees’ elections of Karbi Anglong with results being declared on Tuesday.

Out of the total 47 seats from seven town committees, Congress won 40 seats while PAPA managed to win seven seats.  In Diphu out of the 10 seats, Congress won nine while PAPA backed candidates Monoj Dey kept PAPA banner afloat on ward no 3.

In Bokajan, out of seven seats Congress secured six places while independent Sapan Das was the lone winning from ward number 3.

Howraghat produced most depressing result for PAPA, where Congress registered absolute victory pocketing all the 5 seats.

Congress won 6 seats out of the 7 seats in Hamren Town Committee and PAPA candidate Khimon Ronghang won on ward number 6.

Dokmoka town produced encouraging result for PAPA where PAPA secured 2 seat with Congress winning 6 seats. Donkamokam town was no exception from other urban area of west Karbi Anglong, keeping the victory march intact Congress remained victorious in four losing one seat to PAPA.

In Bokolia town, Congress won 6 seats leaving one to PAPA. Jubilant Karbi Anglong District Congress president Sum Ronghang told media that people have voted for peace and progress which congress was committed to provide towards the people.
