A person was cheated by three persons said to be officials of a mobile phone service provider and took away money amounting to around Rs 11 lakhs.
As per a case registered by the Imphal police station based on a complaint filed by Aribam Sunder Sharma of Ningombam Leikai of Thoubal district, three persons said to be officials of the Java Internet Services North East Circle had duped him on the pretext of offering contract works for installation of towers.
Pawan Sharma (Circle Head), Hrishikesh Kalita (Project Manager of the Java Internet Services, North East Circle-P) and Jamir Ahmed of Sibpur of Assam’s Cachar district said to be representatives of Deepak Power and Telecommunication Private Limited had collected the money two times from Sunder Sharma.
Regarding creation of passive infrastructure for Bharati Infra, mobile network in Manipur and North East Circle, the three persons produced many relevant documents for the said agency.
Believing on them, he paid a sum of Rs 7.30 lakh to get contract work for development of towers for the service.
However, instead of giving the construction work, he was given work order for survey, select, verification and construction of 46 numbers of RTT/GBT towers in Thoubal district.
They conducted the survey and selected 21 sites for installation of Java Internet towers and collected Rs 5000 each as documentation and survey charge from 21 applicants who wanted to install the towers at their lands.
The amounts were collected in the name of M/S Sharma and Son’s agency, the agency runs by the complainant. Recently on July 25 last, Jamir Ahmed collected another Rs 3.50 lakh as advance payment for giving indent for construction of said towers.
The money was handed over to him (Jamir Khan) after fixing a meeting at Hotel Tampha, North AOC of Imphal.
However, all the document produced by the three persons were turned out to be “fake” and forged with an intention to cheat him, Sunder Sharma stated in his complaint.
