NDMA team to visit Guwahati to review recent Assam floods

V.K. Duggal and K.M. Singh, members of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), will be visiting Guwahati on September 18 and 19, to review the recent floods in Assam with the Minister in-charge of Disaster Management, Chief Secretary, DGP and other senior officers of Assam.

The team will also analyse as to what can be done to improve the existing early warning, preparedness response and mitigation systems for future and what assistance can be provided by the Centre in this regard.

The members will be accompanied by Jt. Advisor (Mitigation Projects) B.S. Aggarwal and Senior Research Officer Dr. S.K. Jena.

C.K. Agrawal, Chief Engineer, Deepak Kumar, Superintendent Engineer (Coordination) from the office of Central Water Commission, Shillong/Guwahati, Avdesh Kumar from India Meteorological Department, Guwahati, Faculty Member from Administrative Training Institute, Guwahati and Kashindra Yadav, Chairman, Brahmaputra Board and Dr. Digmber Barman from North Eastern Space Application Centre, Shillong, and A.K. Singh, Commandant, NDRF Batallion, Guwahati, will also be attending the meeting.
