Proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has warned that the outfit fighting for the return of sovereignty of Manipur would not remain as silent spectator if a situation of conflict, hatred and misunderstanding be created among the different ethnic communities living together in Manipur by baseless and unaccounted statements.

In a statement signed by its senior publicity secretary Ksh Yoheiba, the UNLF asserted that after forcibly annexed the WESIA region, the “colonial India” has been trying its best to eliminate the ethnic people having their owns unique identities.

At the same time, these ethnic communities were struggling to protect themselves from elimination. However, so far no forceful revolutionary movement which could face colonial India could be build up. This was because of failure to understand the “Divide and Destroy” being played by the Indian colonial rulers.

India has been trying its best to create a hatred atmosphere among the different ethnic communities in the region with its “divide and destroy” policy which many revolutionary groups had fallen prayed on it, the statement asserted.

The classification of people as scheduled tribe (ST), scheduled caste (SC), other backward classes (OBC) and Sixth Schedule etc., in the region was nothing but to draw separating lines among different communities living in the region.

The main target of India in the region was nothing but to create a conflict situation among the different ethnic communities by encouraging interest of particular communities so as to prevent building up a common platform of revolutionaries to wage against the country, the UNLF observed.

Many armed groups in the region have succumbed to India’s “divide and destroy” and entered into negotiations under the Constitution of India and reduced revolutionary movements for self-determination to the mere ‘Alternative arrangement’ or “Homeland” demands.
