Pakistan came back from a goal down and thumped in three in the second half to beat India 3-1 in an important Azlan Shah Cup hockey match here Wednesday.
But the Indians faltered miserably in the second half as Umar Butta (49th), Mohammad Imran (55th) and veteran Sohail Abbas (57th) found the net for Pakistan, for whom this was the first win against India in six encounters.
Asian Games gold medallists Pakistan lifted their game by several notches in the second half. A defensive lapse by Diwakar Ram helped Butta fire in the equaliser in the 49th minute and Imran gave Pakistan the lead by converting a penalty corner in the 55th minute. Two minutes later Abbas slammed in from another penalty corner to seal India’s hopes.
