All-round performance by Brad Hodge (33 not out & 4-13) helped Kochi Tuskers Kerala thrash Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets with 12.4 overs to spare in their IPL match at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
Chasing a modest 98-run target, Brendon McCullum (29) started the Kochi run chase aggressively as they raced to fifty in 3.5 overs.
After McCullum’s wicket, Hodge and Parthiv Patel (21 not out) continued the momentum as Tuskers chased down the target in just 7.2 overs.
Hodge hit two sixes and five boundaries in his unbeaten rapid 17-ball knock whereas Patel hit a six and two fours in his unbeaten 14-ball cameo.
Nayan Doshi struck with his first ball to dismiss dangerous McCullum in the fourth over. McCullum was on his usual aggressive self as he smacked four huge sixes and a four in his 12-ball 29 blitzkrieg.
Jacob Oram gave Royals early breakthough as he scalped Kochi skipper Mahela Jayawardene (6) in the second over.
Electing to bowl first, Brad Hodge took 4 wickets for 13 runs to help Kochi Tuskers Kerala bowled Rajasthan Royals out for 97 in their IPL match at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.
Hodge dismissed Ashok Menaria (31), Shane Warne (2), Jacob Oram (0) and Pinal Shah (5) to lead the disciplined Kochi bowlers as they bundled out the Royals in 18.3 overs. Hodge also inflicted a run out of Ankeet Chavan (1) to go with four wickets.
Menaria top-scored for Rajasthan as he hit a six and three boundaries in his 28-ball 31 runs innings. Shane Watson was the other main contributor for the Royals as he smashed three huge sixes in his 13-ball 20 cameo.
