India finished a disappointing sixth in the Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament after losing to South Korea 1-2 in a classification match here Sunday.
India and South Korea were the joint defending champions. They finished with seven points from six matches and were pitted against each other for the fifth place play-off. Korea went 2-0 up in the first half with Nam Hyun Woo (11th minute) and Jang Jong-Hyun (21st min) converting penalty corners.
Vikram Pillay pulled a goal back early in the second half for India, who stepped up the pressure but missed opportunities to equalise.
India had lost to South Korea in the first match but came back well to beat Britain and Malaysia and drew with Australia. They however slumped to defeat against Pakistan and New Zealand.
In another classification match, Britain beat New Zealand 4-2 to finish third.
