Naga Tornadoes draw Kma Komets; Life Sports FC thrash New Market 6-0

Dimapur XI shines at Mokokchung; Zonipang FC beat barak flamingoz 2-0 and Sangpang beat Dynamic FC 1-0

Senenlo’s late strike rescued Naga Tornadoes Zunheboto from the jaws of defeat against the visiting team, Kohima Komets in the ongoing Nagaland Premier League played at DDSC Stadium, Dimapur Saturday.

After goals from Teponmeren and Kobu had given the visitors the lead, Naga Tornadoes midfielder Senenlo with seven minutes from time scored the much needed equalizer for the home team sending the home supporter to its feet. Earlier, Naga Tornadoes drew the first blood through Kivi’s strike.

With today’s result Naga Tornadoes is placed in second place with four points from two matches (one win and a draw). Dimapur United is leading the league table on six points.

Naga Tornadoes the same squad which defeated New Market FC 3-0 in the first match, brilliantly out played the visitors in the first session. Naga Tornadoes selecting Dimapur as the home ground, mounted pressure on the rival defender from the word go.
Then in the 5th minute, Kivi with his solo run effort beating three rival defenders gave Tornadoes the lead.

The visitors tried their best for come back but could not break the strong defense line-up of the rivals. The host led 1-0 till the first session. Tornadoes also missed a number of opportunities in the first session.

Fully charged up the visitors changed their tactics right after the first session and was finally rewarded when Teponmeren converted the penalty in the 53rd minutes. The penalty was awarded after Tornadoes defender handled the ball inside the danger area.

With the score balanced, Komets stunned the home team, when Kobu gave his team the lead in the 70th minute. When the visiting team seemed to be taking away the match, Senenlo was the hero by securing a point to the home team.

Six yellows card were also awarded to both the teams. The second session was also marked with some ugly incidents among the players. Most of the yellow cards were shown in the second half.

Earlier, in the first match played at Dimapur, Sangpang FC defeated Dynamic FC by a solitary goal. The all important goal was scored by Tiayanger in the 24th minute.
Meanwhile in Kohima, Life Sports Football Club (LSFC) registered their first win and gained three points in the Nagaland Premier League (NPL).
In the only match (2nd round match) of NPL on Saturday at Kohima, Life Sports Football Club drubbed New Market Football Club 6-0.
Thangtinlen Haokip of LSFC recorded history by becoming the 1st player to score a hat trick in the history of NPL. He scored the 1st, 2nd and 4th goals in the 19th, 24th and 71st minutes respectively. 

One goal each were netted by Novito Sale (3rd goal in 54th minute), Vikuzo Zhotso (5th goal in the 77th minute) and Mezhiisietuo Sekhose (6th goal in the 85th minute).

 In an action packed match, Dimapur United FC piped Doyang FC to continue with their winning streak in Mokokchung ground with a lone goal which was scored by Amir (j-no 10) right after the lemon break.

The official of Dimapur United FC dedicated their win to the memory of Late. Tsukjem Jamir, Team Patron of Dimapur United FC, who passed away on March 16 in Dimapur.

In one of the most anticipated match of this week in NPL, Zonipang SA beat Barak Flamingoz FC by 2 goals to nil which were scored by Temjenmeren(J-no 7) in the 40th minute and Imlikokba(11) during the 65 minute.

Though the Barak flamingoz had previously won the hearts of the football fans in Mokokchung with their stylish and disciplined play, nevertheless, it was the Home team, the Zonipangs who really utilized their benefits of the home crowd to turn the tide to their advantages.
