Lazio skipper Stefano Mauri was arrested Monday amid a widening investigation into match-fixing scandals in Italian football.

According to the Italian football association, Mauri was among the 14 people, most of them footballers and former footballers, who have been arrested. They were accused of receiving money to fix matches in favour of gambling groups.

Antonio Conte, who led Juventus to claim the league title this season, was also under investigation for alleged match-fixing during his spell as coach of Siena last season.

The police also raided the training camp of the Italian national team near Florence Monday as part of the probe.
