Two-day 8th Atou Nagaland open snooker championship 2012 sponsored by parents and family members of late Ketoulhou (Atou) Keditsu started on August 4 at Atou pool house Kohima with K. Kire IPS former DGP Nagaland as the chief guest.
Kire in his address appreciated and congratulated the family members of Atou for organizing the snooker championship where talented people are given the platform to explore their talents.
He encouraged the players to give their best and also aim higher.
Citing the example of late Atou who was a good boy where his family members initiated the snooker championship in his honor, he said every parent expect his/her child to be good and obedient.
Kire also suggested the organizers to invite players from other states to encourage one another and build a better relationship.
Dr. K. Keditsu, on behalf of the sponsored family, in his speech, said Atou was an obedient boy whose life was cut short.
He encouraged the young people to live well and do well in their studies, adding it is the “best present to the parents”.
The opening ceremony was led by Anisha, welcome address by Pfukeduo Sopfü, Pucho, youth director Cross Wonder Church Kohima said invocation prayer and special song was presented by Neino and Keren.
Altogether 40 players from Dimapur, Mizoram, Wokha and Zunheboto are participating in the championship.
On the first day, the winners were Ninoto, Ajamo, Matthew, Bohoto, Richard, Hokheshe, Samen, Hithono, Akok, Lusheto, Dziese, Neitho while the other 4 were yet to play till the time of filling this report.
Matthew scored the highest break point with 53 points on the first day.
