Nagaland Police beat Head Hunters (164 TA) to enter QF

Nagaland Police defeated Head Hunters (164 Territorial Army) in a thrilling pre-quarterfinal match at the ongoing 21st Royal Gold Cup at local ground, Kohima on Saturday.

Police marksman, Saku Temjen was the hero of the match. He scored two late goals to take the 6 times Royal Gold Cup champions Nagaland Police to the quarterfinal. Head Hunters scored the first goal through Tiyanger’s first half strike.

Earlier, Head Hunters, the champion of Loyem memorial trophy held recently at Tuensang took an early lead when Tiyanger found the net in the 30th minute.

Right after the goal, Nagaland Police pressed for an equalizer but could not break the rival’s strong defense line.
Head Hunters, who were leading 1-0 goal in the first half, suffered a setback after Medo was given marching order for his second yellow card in the second half.

Taking advantage, Saku without missing the opportunity leveled the score line in the 75th minute. Then it was only a matter of time, when Saku rose to the occasion and ensured victory for the cops by scoring the winning goal.

Timas of Nagaland police was also awarded yellow card for unsporting behavior.
Nagaland Police will take on TRAU, Imphal in the second quarterfinal on November 22.
On Monday, Nagaland Premier League Champion Barak FC will play Twenty XI for a berth in the quarterfinal.
