Hovishe memorial trophy begins

The 37th Niuland Area Sports’ Association (NASA) Hovishe Memorial Trophy kick started at Yeveto Village on November 19 with Khekiho Zhimomi, MP, Rajya Sabha as the chief guest of the inaugural function.

The programme which was chaired by Pitoho Awomi, president NASA commenced with invocation prayer by Kakheto Aye, pastor Yeveto Baptist Church followed by introduction and welcome address by Zheito Tuccu, Advisor NASA and Yeshito Zhimo Hd. GB of the host village respectively.

The chief guest dwelt on the prospect of generating firmer bond of unity by organising such events as games and sports disciplines the heart and soul of all the participants.

He therefore advised the teams not to play just to win but to foster the ability to showcase clean sportsmanship. Zhimomi also paid rich tribute to late Hovishe, the founding father of Hovishe village in whose memory Hovishe village donated this trophy as a mark of respect to the departed leader.

As a token of gratitude and solidarity, the chief guest donated lakh each towards NASA and Yeveto the host village respectively, Rs.5000 each to the 15 participating teams and the three culture troupes from K. Hetoi, Yeveto and Hevikhe villages whose performance highlighted the occasion were acknowledged with Rs.10000 each.

15 teams would compete through the five-day fixture which will culminate on November 24 with S. Vihuto Yeptho, secretary NPF Dimapur division and founder of S. Vihuto village as the guest of honour.
