Meena Kumari, member of Nagaland State boxing team won silver medal in the 54 kg in the 15th Senior Women National Boxing Championship at Guwahati from November 25 to 29.

It is also the first silver medal by women pugilist in the history of Nagaland women boxing, said state boxing coach Tsunchetrenla (Youth Resources and Sports, Kohima) who led a six-member Nagaland boxing team for the championship.

The championship was organized by Assam State Amateur Boxing Association under the aegis of the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation. Over 175 boxers from 30 states and board teams took part in the championship.

Merenpaul, secretary general of Nagaland Amateur Boxing Association also witnessed the five-day national championship.
